Learn to fly with sport pilot training, and do it in less time and for a lot less money!

Our sport pilot training can help you earn your sport pilot certification in Light Sport Aircraft, which earns you the privilege to fly some of the most fun, most versatile aircraft in the sky. Learning to fly is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things you’ll ever do. To get started, you can take a Discovery Flight, where you’ll go up with one of Sarasota Aero’s fine instructors and see what it’s like to fly a plane for yourself.  Your next step will be to jump into your sport pilot training with one of our top notch, experienced instructors. Our Sport Pilot Training Kits contain a full system curriculum to ensure that you learn everything that you need to know to be a safe, confident pilot.

 

Basic Requirements:


Total Time: 20 hours minimum which consists of at least: 

Dual: 15 hours minimum of flight training with an instructor on the Sport Pilot areas of operation including:

 

  • 2 hours must be cross-country dual instruction

  • 2 hours of flight training in a single engine airplane within the 60 days prior to the practical test.

 

Solo: 5 hours minimum of solo flying in a single engine airplane on the Sport Pilot areas of operation including: 

  • Fly one solo cross-country flight over a total distance of 75 or more nautical miles to two different destinations to a full-stop landing. At least one leg of this cross-country must be over a total distance of at least 25 nautical miles (46 km).

Other Requirements:

  • Pass FAA Knowlage Test (Written Portion)

  • Pass FAA Practical Test (Oral & Flight Test)

  • Have a valid US State drivers license AND have not been rejected for your last Airman Medical Certificate or have a current 3rd class or higher Airman Medical Certificate.

Private Pilot

Our private pilot training can help you earn your private pilot certification in single or multi engine aircraft.  With a Private Pilot License, you'll be able to take your friends flying, take trips to the Florida Keys, Bahamas, or even across the country, fly at night if you wish, and have the opportunity to choose from hundreds of different types of aircraft you wish to fly!

What Can You Do With a Private Pilot's License?

 

You can:

  • Fly aircraft up to 200hp (literally hundreds of different types of aircraft, with speeds ranging from 75mph to over 200mph)

  • Fly with passengers

  • Fly at night

  • Fly just about anywhere throughout the United States, Canada, Bahamas, Carribean, Etc.

  • Fly up to 18,000ft high

  • Contiue training for aerobatics, poor weather flying, multiengine training, or commercial pilot training.

Commercial Pilot

 

 

 

The Commercial Certificate will allow you to fly for hire for certain operators. This is the first step toward becoming a professional airline pilot.  Training for a commercial pilot certificate is one the most rewarding things you can do after becoming a pilot.  You will experience new types of manuevers during training and be able to perform precision flying tecniques that makes you part of an exclusive club of people who are able to fly for a living.  Less than 0.1% of people in the U.S. have these skills, with some dedication, you can become one of the elite easier than you might think.
